Because of these capabilities, many of Nigeria’s biggest conferences, tech expos, awards shows, and international summits choose Eko Convention Centre as their venue of choice. Its ability to host up to 5,151 sqm in a single hall (or subdivide into five sections) and accommodate thousands of attendees makes it a top candidate for organizers aiming for both scale and flexibility. ekohotels.com+1

Case Study: GITEX Nigeria 2025 at Eko Convention Centre

A. Overview & Objectives

For GITEX Nigeria 2025, the client’s goals were:

  • High-quality multi-camera video coverage (for highlight reels, post-event promos)
  • Live streaming to global and local audiences
  • Onsite LED screen and projector displays for keynotes, panels, and exhibition demos
  • Coordination with exhibition floor traffic and AV workflows

We tailored our solution to suit the venue’s scale and client’s expectations.

B. Setup & Implementation

  1. Pre-event site survey & mock run
Two weeks before setup day, we visited Eko Convention Centre with our lead director and systems engineer to walk all major camera positions, sightlines, signal paths, and stage layout. This helps in pre-checking rigging points, cable routes, power trunking, and signal distribution.
  2. Multi-Camera & Live Switcher Setup
We deployed 4× Sony 4K cine cameras, plus 1 PTZ camera to cover audience reactions, stage wide shots, panelists, and product demos. We fed all inputs into a live video mixer (with downstream keying, transition, and recording).
For the livestream, we used dual encoding (one 1080p feed, one 720p adaptive) to YouTube Live, Zoom, and the client’s webinar platform.

3. LED / Projection Displays
We deployed two large LED walls (6 mm pitch), plus supplemental projectors and screens for breakout rooms. We scheduled “preview time” for keynote slides and content ingestion one hour before the first session.

4. Back-of-House & Control Room
We set up a control room behind the stage with signal routing, switching, monitoring, and power redundancy. We also ran backup fiber or high-end Ethernet links to avoid dropouts.

5. Highlight Reel & Post-Production
During the event, we cut short teaser reels between sessions, and after the event, delivered a polished 3–4 minute highlight video within 48 hours. We also delivered full-resolution master footage to the client’s archive.

C. Challenges & How We Overcame Them

ChallengeDescriptionOur Solution
Variable lightingThe main hall lighting, exhibition floor lighting, and stage lighting conditions shifted across sessions (bright exhibition booths, dark keynotes)We used camera profiles with high dynamic range, onboard ND filters, and manual white-balance shifting. We also brought supplemental LED fill lights to even out exposure under tricky booths.
Internet & network bandwidthThe venue’s wired bandwidth was often congested, especially with exhibitors pulling heavy trafficWe provisioned redundant bonded cellular modems (5G) plus a dedicated backup link via local ISP to ensure livestream stability.
Cable routing and interferenceLong runs through the floor and overlapping exhibitor power lines risked signal noiseWe used shielded multicore cables, fiber for long distance, and carefully separated power & signal runs. We pre-labeled all lines and used digital snakes for audio/video.
Tight load-in windowsEko often restricts when trucks can drive in and when doors openBecause of our prior experience, we already know which bays to use, staging areas, and how to coordinate with the venue’s operations team to speed rigging.

This level of planning and venue-specific familiarity is what sets us apart as the trusted event videography partner for Eko Convention Centre.

Video Coverage and Live Streaming at Gitex Nigeria 2025

Venue-Specific Challenges & G6 Image Solutions

When producing video or live streaming at Eko Convention Centre, there are recurring constraints and opportunities. Here’s what we’ve learned and how we mitigate them:

  1. Internet & network reliability
Many clients assume the venue’s built-in ISP will suffice; in reality, during major expos, bandwidth is strained. We always bring redundant bonded modems and a backup link to guarantee continuity.
  2. Lighting conditions & color cast
The convention hall lighting often includes warm house lighting, theatrical stage lighting, and mixed LED booth lighting. Without proper white balance and lighting control, video can look inconsistent. We carry calibrated lighting fixtures, gels, and manual overrides to maintain consistent exposure and color.
  3. Acoustic challenges & microphone bleed
The hall is large, with reflective surfaces and background ambient noise from booths. We use strategic mic placements, directional mics, and audio gating to minimize bleed. Where possible, we connect directly to the house audio console for cleaner signal paths.
  4. Power distribution & load balancing
Some zones may have weaker power circuits. We bring power distro units with UPS and load balancing, and coordinate closely with venue power engineers to allocate circuits appropriately.
  5. Sightlines & camera obstructions
Because booths, stands, banners, and crowd movements shift during the event, some camera sightlines may be obstructed later. We plan for “fallback” positions and adjust dynamically. We also reserve overhead risers or truss spots to ensure long-term unobstructed views.

Tips for Organisers Booking at Eko Convention Centre

If you (or your event agency) are planning to host at Eko Convention Centre, here are tactical tips (drawn from our field experience) to maximize smooth video and AV operations:

  • Schedule early AV & video walkthroughs
Ask your video/AV team or vendor to visit the venue at least 10 days before setup. This gives you time to identify signal runs, rigging points, lighting zones, and comms paths.
  • Lock-in the internet package early
The venue may offer ISP or fiber packages. But these often fill up during big exhibitions. Reserve the bandwidth your event needs well in advance, and be prepared with backup connectivity (bonded cellular) if needed.
  • Plan content ingestion times
Some keynote slides, videos or demos may need to be loaded locally to the video system before the session. Allocate a quiet preview hour ahead of the start to ingest, test, and cue content.
  • Coordinate exhibitor AV needs & conflict resolution
Since exhibition booths often have their own AV, loud demos, or LED screens, plan routing and interference mapping with your AV provider to avoid signal bleed or disruption of camera views.
  • Understand the hall subdivisions
The Eko Convention Centre can be partitioned into five zones. Decide early whether your event will use the full hall or subdivide, and confirm how AV systems will scale across zones. ekohotels.com+1
  • Apply for extended load-in / load-out window permissions
Sometimes strict time windows (for evening load-out or early morning load-in) can constrict your setup. Request extensions from the venue, citing your production scale.
  • Bring redundancy
Always budget for backup gear: extra cameras, cables, power lines, media cards, and even a secondary switcher or backup encoder.
